Fix text in AI generated images. Box it, type it, keep the artwork.

How it works: Upload the AI image, drag a box over each garbled line and type what it should say. Leave a box empty and the AI guesses from the picture — but names, dates and prices are safer typed in.

No boxes yet. Upload an image, then drag across the text (or use “Add box”).

By clicking Generate you confirm you own or are licensed to edit this image, and that the edit is not meant to deceive anyone — for example in visa or immigration paperwork, refund or payment proofs, or altered chat and email screenshots.

We don't process IDs, passports, bank statements, receipts, certificates or official seals. See our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms.

    • 1 free credit to start
    • Only the boxed text changes
    • Original artwork preserved

Four AI images, fixed in place.

Each one would otherwise mean re-rolling the prompt and losing the composition you liked.

The art was right, the words were not

Harbour, lighthouse and sun-faded print texture came out perfectly; the headline came out as nonsense. One box over the title, the real word typed in — the illustration around it is untouched.

Why do AI images get text wrong — and how is it fixed?

Image generators learn what letters look like, not how words are spelled. The prompt reaches the model as sub-word tokens and small text gets very few pixels, so you often get convincing letter shapes in the wrong order. Newer models are much better at short headlines but still slip on long words, several lines of text and non-Latin scripts.

Re-prompting redraws the whole picture, so you trade one problem for another. Fixing in place keeps the generation you liked: you mark each broken line with a box, type the correct words, and only the inside of those boxes is written back. You never have to type the gibberish itself.

How to fix text in an AI image

About a minute from upload to download.

    1. Upload the generation

PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 10 MB — use the upscaled version if you have one.

    2. Box each broken line

Drag across the garbled text and type what it should say. Up to eight boxes per edit. Keyboard users can use “Add box” and the arrow keys.

    3. Download the fix

The boxed areas are redrawn in the generation's own lettering; everything else is your original file. If one letter is still off, box it again.

What this tool is not for

    • Impersonating real brands. Don't fix AI-generated logos so they spell real trademarks, or create material that looks like it came from a real company.
    • Documents. We don't fix text on anything resembling an ID, licence, diploma, contract or notarised document — even if an AI made it.
    • Rights you don't hold. Generator terms may allow commercial use of your output, but likeness, trademark and typeface rights still belong to their owners.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I fix garbled text in an AI-generated image?
Upload the image, drag a box over each garbled line, type the correct text and click Fix. Only the inside of your boxes changes; the rest of the generation is untouched.
Do I have to type the gibberish?
No. Box mode only needs the correct text. That's the point — the garbled letters usually aren't real characters anyway.
Will fixing the text change the rest of the picture?
No. The model works on a crop around your boxes and only the boxed areas are pasted back, so lighting, subject, palette and composition stay exactly as generated.
What if I leave a box empty?
The model will try to make the text legible based on context. For names, dates, prices and anything that must be exact, type it in.
Does it work with any image generator?
Yes. It edits pixels, so it doesn't matter which model made the image.
Is post-processing allowed by generator terms?
Most major generators let you edit your outputs, but read the terms of the one you use. What matters legally is usually what the image depicts, not how it was edited.
    Can I fix non-English lettering?
Latin, Cyrillic and Chinese, Japanese and Korean lettering work, including brush and hand-painted styles. Right-to-left scripts are supported but more variable.
How long does a fix take?
Usually under a minute. The first fix on a new account is free.
