A renamed feature across the help centre

“Inbox” became “Activity” last sprint and every tutorial screenshot is now out of date. Edit the nav label in each capture instead of re-shooting the whole flow.

What does editing text in a screenshot mean?

Editing text in a screenshot replaces words rendered inside a screen capture — a button label, a notification, a dialog, a nav item — without touching the underlying app. The system font (San Francisco on Apple platforms, Roboto on Android, the web app's own font stack), the status bar and every other element stay exactly as captured.

Sometimes a detail just shouldn't be shared, like an email address in a bug report. For that, redact it in your screenshot tool instead of replacing it; changing amounts, names or times on payment, chat or booking screenshots is not allowed under our Acceptable Use Policy.

Where editing screenshot text saves real time

  • Store localisation

Store listings need screenshots per language. Edit the existing captures — or translate them — instead of re-running the simulator for each locale.

  • Docs after a rename

Feature or button renamed? Update help-centre and blog screenshots in place instead of recapturing tutorials.

  • Marketing variants

Test headline or tier wording on an identical UI so only the copy varies.

  • Status bar clean-up

Standardise the clock or carrier text on older marketing captures without retaking them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit text in a screenshot online?
Upload the screenshot, type the text exactly as it appears and the replacement, and click Generate. The new text is drawn in the screenshot's UI font and the rest of the capture is unchanged.
Can I edit an iPhone screenshot without retaking it?
Yes. Open the site in Safari, upload from Photos, type the old and new text and download. The output keeps your screenshot's dimensions.
Will the status bar or other UI change?
No. Only the area around the text you named is replaced; the status bar, navigation, keyboard and other elements are your original pixels.
Does it work with web-app screenshots?
Yes — it edits pixels, so it doesn't matter whether the capture is from a native app, a browser or a desktop tool.
What formats and resolutions are supported?
PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 10 MB. Use PNG for UI with sharp edges; JPEG compression softens icons and small text.
How do I make the edit look unedited?
Keep the new wording close to the original length so line breaks don't move, upload the original PNG rather than a re-compressed copy, and if you need a second attempt run it on the original screenshot, not the edited one.
Can I change several labels at once?
Yes, up to four text changes per edit with “Change another line”.
What am I not allowed to edit?
Payment confirmations, bank or chat screenshots altered to mislead, and anything presented as genuine evidence. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
